Pigmentation & Discolouration
Pigmentation and discolouration are skin conditions that arise primarily from sun damage and an unbalanced production of melanin. However, hormonal changes, genetics, and other skin conditions can influence its development. There are multiple types of pigmentation and discolouration, which can show up as freckles, uneven skin tone, and melanoma. At Cosmetic SA, we treat pigmentation and discolouration through personalised treatments which may include the following skin therapy:
Laser treatments
We use several laser treatment tech including PICO lasers and Fraxis CO2 which helps resurfacing the superficial skin layers and regenerating the deeper skin layers. Laser treatments aim to stimulate collagen, boost wound healing, and clear pore for smooth skin.
LED therapy
LED (light-emitted diode) therapy is a non-invasive treatment that enters the epidermis’ layers to improve the skin. LED have various wavelengths and colours which correspond to the depth of a light’s penetration. Blue light focuses on the uppermost layer of the skin and targets skin bacterias and uneven skin tone. Red light goes much deeper in the skin, targeting inflammation and stimulating collagen production. LED therapy is overall beneficial to acne, ageing, and other skin conditions.

Some questions we get asked
Are there side effects linked to cosmetic treatments?
Side effects are a possibility with cosmetic treatments and often come down to a combination of things, whether that’s the product used, the provider’s preference, and your skin nuances. Common side effects are often mild, short-lived, and may include swelling and bruising for 2-3 days depending on your treatment. Through a first consultation, our cosmetic doctor will walk you through the procedure, pre and post care protocol, as well as any potential side effects.
What if I am running late for my appointment?
If you are late, this may impact the length of your appointment. Please contact reception if you anticipate that you will be late for your appointment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
If you are coming for a skin check, please wear loose fitting clothing that is easy to undress for us to monitor your complete skin. We also ask that you come with no makeup or remove it before your appointment with wipes. It is not required to shower before your appointment.
Should I wear makeup to my appointment?
If you are coming for a skin check it is important you remove all make up/face creams before you arrive or use the wipes at our reception. Our skin checks will involve you removing all the clothing you are comfortable with and will involve a female nurse escort if you are examined by a male doctor.
Will photographs be taken at my appointment?
Clinical photography allows us to monitor, assess and plan your treatment plans accordingly. Images will be taken at each appointment with your consent. Lesions will sometimes be photographed for surveillance with your consent.
